Things You Must Do Before You Turn 40

Time flies away, and everyone, spends some time falling into a flashback, thinking “What are the really “kewl” things that I have done?”. I decided to make a list of “kewl” things that most of us must try to do before we turn 40. (You can try some, even if you are >40)

5. Visit a European Country

Europe, is a beautiful continent. You must make it a point that you spend some time in Europe. Right from the Vatican to the Louvre, you will enjoy every bit. I have visited Greece and France.

4. Learn a Musical Instrument

I feel a musical instrument is a must for everyone, I play the guitar. I feel doing so gets my brain running, helps my hand-eye coordination and It increases my creativity. It is never too late, pick up an instrument that you would like to play.

3. Sky Diving / Bungee jumping

Bungee Jumping

Sky diving, is something really amazing. I am 100% going to do it very very soon. Anyways, those who cannot go sky diving can go bungee jumping. I went bungee jumping about two years ago in France. I really enjoyed. I totally took three turns.

2. Climb a Mountain

This is one feat which gets tougher as the years pass by. I have gone climbing twice, those were not “real” mountains but i am confident that once i am in my twenties i will climb a “real” mountain. The feeling i got even when i just climbed ~5000 feet was just amazing.

1. Experience True Love

Well, this is something that is not totally in your hands, but is definitely on the top of my list. Very few people in life can put a tick mark on this one.

Also, there are one or two obvious things that don’t need to be mentioned πŸ˜€

Hope you enjoyed reading this post and please stumble it if you like it.
What would you like to do before you turn 40? (or what did you wish that you had done before you turned 40?) Feel free to comment below.

I really need to eat a fat laden burger or oil dripping fried chicken before turning 40. I staying away from it due to my fitness program, but I guess, once won’t hurt πŸ˜‰

  5. I already play a musical instrument (trumpet) haha. I don’t really plan on skydiving, though. I’m terrified of heights. Nice compilation!

I played flute (does it count as musical instrument?) during the school time. I had experienced and am experiencing true love (at least I think so). And now, I’m so looking forward to visit some European country and try bungee jumping. I will pass the climbing mountain part though. πŸ˜›

Well this is has made me feel rather pleased with myself.

    5) Being from the UK it’s not that difficult to do this one :)
    4) Piano in my youth and guitar more recently
    3) Done and Done. Both in New Zealand.
    2) Ben Nevis – Scotland. Snowdon – Wales and Kota Kinabalu – Borneo
    1) Been with my girl now for 6 years. Love her to bits.

I’m 28 now so I need 5 more things to do before I hit the dreaded 30.

  15. Roshni says:

I have a very long time to go :)
I play the piano, am in love, and have visited 6 European cities!

  16. Ganesh says:

I haven’t done any of those things, but hey, I’m 14 and there’s plenty of time to do them before I turn 40. I would love to visit Europe having read about many of the famous (and the not so famous) locations in Europe right from the Lourve to the Vatican (secret archives). I guess that reading Dan Brown’s books sparked this sort of interest. Nevertheless, a good list although I wouldn’t mind adding a few more.

@Ganesh: Dan Brown did spark that interest in me too :)
Btw, we are of the same age!

  18. FeatherHost says:

Out of the 5, I’ve only done 1, musical instrument xD.

I seriously would not enjoy sky diving though, I get pwned by those little wooden roller coasters, can’t imagine what I’d be like falling from the sky.

  19. Farrhad A says:

@Featherhost: Well, you can always try something else that is challenging :)
And hey! You have even more time than me to complete the list (i think i just turned 3 years older to you)

  20. FeatherHost says:

    @Farrhad
Would really love to visit a European country (that’s UK right? :p), might not be the reason you expect. For some reason, I really freaking love the accent they have.

What was climbing the mountains like, by the way? Was it hard to breathe at the top?

  21. Farrhad A says:

    @FeatherHost:

Well, actually one was a hill and the other was a mountain.

When I climbed the hill, i was not really fit and it was really tiring and all and I was always lagging behind.

As for the mt., it was fun, since i have lost weight and am way more fitter that before I enjoyed it, not tough at all.

I did not have any breathing problems, i just loved the air on top :)

    Cheers!

  22. haha, I think you have missed some more interesting points here to do before 40 :-)

But I have learnt piano in my early age and also exprenced true lov

And I know I will not climb a mountain and sky diving but I can do it if the jump will from 20 to 30 feet height. lolz

  23. FeatherHost says:

    @Farrhad A
Sounds like the thing for me xD I’m guessing I’ll die if I try skiing the way down? πŸ˜€

  24. Im seriously behind with this list, although the idea of going up tall things / and / or jumping off things scares the doodah from me

Ahh the infamous list, similar to a bucket list, but there’s actually a date by which the events must be completed πŸ˜‰ I would love to visit a European country, I definitely plan to before I am 30! Heck, if I can, before I am 25. As for the musical instrument, does learning how to use a blade of grass to whistle count? Yeah Sky diving, haha a lot of people I know have done it. Its not to difficult to do it, as there are many places all over the country that offer it… I just don’t know if I have the guts lol. Yeah, finding true love is probably the hardest challenge on the list.

    Till then,

    Jean

  31. My target is visit European country before 40. I’ll try for that.
