Everyone gets stressed out once in a while. Be it an animal or a human…when the problems of everyday living takes its toll on the mind, the body responds by showing signs of physical and emotional tension.
Relaxation is often a overused word to point out the solution for stress. The cliché “relax man”, “chill out” and similar are the common advise provided by others when you are facing a stressful situation.
More often, relaxation is the last thing to come to the mind of very stressed out person and in most cases, people start panicking or resorting to fatal methods in overcoming stress.
Relaxation in a stressful environment does not have to take tremendous amounts of input. Some of the most simple and effective ways to induce a relaxed environment are:
Breathing is a relaxation technique that can be performed anywhere. Taking a few deep breaths gets the oxygen going and helps in calming your mind. Few deep breaths can often avoid harmful situations.
When you are feeling worn out, taking a walk around the neighborhood can relax your mind. If possible, vigorous exercise sessions help in multiple ways. It benefits the health as well as helps you maintain your nerve.
What could be better than passing a few hours being pampered. Massaging helps in reducing depression and revigorates the body and mind.
Hypnosis is a tried and tested method to lessen stress and tension. Deep hypnosis can help you get to the root of the problems and resolve it when you come out of the hypnosis state.
In extreme cases, where none of the above methods seem to work, drugs can be used under strict medical coaching. This is certainly not healthy, but drugs do help in achieving short term relaxed states. Incorporating physical exercise while under the drug treatment can help you overcome stress in the long run.
In addition to high/low blood pressure, prolonged stress can increase the risk of heart attacks and immunization system failure. Use the above tips in your everyday lives. It helps in keeping the stress away.
1) Sit up straight, shoulders back.
2) Inhale slowly and deeply to the count of four, filling your belly with air.
3) Hold for one count.
4) Exhale slowly and completely, to the count of six. Allow your shoulders to relax (but don’t let them slump forward).
5) Pause for one count. Repeat four times.
6) Enjoy a moment of peace before jumping back into the fray.

Anger and Frustration
Quite often, in the race against time when we have to focus attention on getting the job done, we are likely to experience anger and resentment when our purpose or our path seems blocked by others. It is important to remember that the people who are getting in our way are also frustrated and feeling highly aroused.
Try to step back from the situation and remember that they are just people trying to get their own work done. Take a deep breath or two and picture them as if they are only three or four and feeling sad, alone and helpless. In your mind’s eye, make them very small and sit them in your pocket where they will feel more nurtured. Then, see yourself at maybe age five or six. See yourself unhappy and feeling all alone and isolated. Put your arm around yourself and give yourself plenty of love. When you have stopped crying and feel a little better, shrink yourself very small and put yourself in your pocket where you are able to embrace the other and give each other lots of love.
Now try and think about what needs to be done to unblock the situation.
Stress is very dangerous thing for your body.you should not take it,because it is very harmful.be careful about it..

I do believe the exercises out of doors and meditations will help to beat the stress.

I think Breathing is great relaxation technique as compair to drugs. Breathing along with meditation get great achivement over the stress.
I absolutely share the opinion of breathing being an effective relaxation technique.I use it now and have been used for long.

Yeah stress is definitely a silent killer, and some of us can deal with it… while others cannot. Personal I use a different variety of stress reducers, but I do find that walking on a breezy night or day does seem to relax me.

Its a wonderful post for the techniques to overcome the stress. Some of the tips are really so helpful to come out of stress. Even I prefer exercise and body massage when I feel stressed out.

I have had to go on steroids because if stress induced problems. You have made very good suggestions here. I have used many of them with good outcomes. Unfortunately this last bout with stress made me go on prescriptions. So please take this article seriously, you really don’t want to go threw what I have.
I have periods I go through where I’m stressed bad. Sometimes for weeks. I know this isnt good so I need some input here. For the past 3 months I’ve been supplementing on the following:
One A Day, VitB stress tabs with zinc, fish oil, vit E, biotin. I started taking DHEA 25mg at night last week. I heard this is good for fighting cortisol levels. I also eat a well balanced meal and stay away from processed foods etc….
I lift weights two to three times a week. I also always get around 7-8 hours of sleep. Am I on the right path? I have a prescription to xanax and I usually pop a few of those on days when the stress is really high. SOrry but this has been a very bad year. I’ve had a lot of crap to go through. Most of which I’m sure you guys don’t care about.

It is very important to try to keep stress under control. It lowers the immune system, and makes it more likely that you will get sick. And being stuck in bed unable to get things done will add to your stress.
