Working with people is a crucial skill all entrepreneurs must have as it forms the basis of their success. At school you will come across scores of people who you have to deal with- You may or may not like most of them. You learn to adapt to the situation and it improves your networking skills.
In life there is competition everywhere. There is absolutely no field where success is a piece of cake. In school there will be healthy competition in academics and sports. In school, you learn how to face people, work hard and even accept failures.
Time is something that can be never recycled; it is a lost jewel that once gone is gone forever and also remember- Time is money. At school we have projects to complete and deadlines to meet. We learn how to cope with these parameters set up.
Every one is criticized once in a while. Some people just cannot take it in the right spirit. At school you will get criticized many times for the smallest of things. Thus you will learn to handle it and take in the right spirit.
At school, you may have failures and not be successful at all times. The same is going to happen in the future. 98% of all start-ups fail in the very first year, chances are yours will too. So school will teach you how to handle failures and start afresh. One quote that comes to my mind right now- “Failure is the stepping stone to success”
The article is short but I hope I have got my point across clearly. My message to all budding entrepreneurs is, please take your education seriously and never think of giving it up. Schools and all education institutions play a very vital role.
Hope you enjoyed reading this post. Have any more points to share? What do you think? Please feel free to comment below.

Great comment! I loved it.Absolutely right that you don’t need an MBA to start a business. Actually, I advise to take a MBA only after you have some experience in the market, as employee or as entrepreneur. As I said, the MBA may help to facilitate the solutions of some problems or in some cases may not help, but as you said, it does open your perspectives much wider.
A formal eduction is absolutely imperative for one to have entrepreneural success. Even though there have been the rare examples of dropouts going on to big successes, in today’s super competitive environment, you just cannot afford to be lacking an education.

You make a great point here Jean.
yes it couldn’t be better for sack

I would have have to agree with you
I love these lists. I myself have two degrees none of which I use. It just goes to show you that it takes more motivation and just getting things done than brains to make it in this world.
I too have a degree which I don’t think will come into use anymore.
Shame about all that time wasted in studying for that but you never know.
Till then,
Jean
Jean, although you may not use your schooling directly, I’m sure you have learned some life skills or matured as a person. Don’t think of it as a waste but as a learning experience.
I guess you’re right, Laptop. In the grand scheme of things in life, every bit of learning or experience is but another drop in the bucket.
Till then,
Jean
It doesn’t matter where you learn all that matters is that you continue to learn and grow.
Well it goes to show you don’t always need a degree to get a good job.

There are many people who didn’t need college to succeed. You do make valid points on some of the things you learn in college but you can learn those lessons elsewhere as well.
Yes there are many other places you can learn similar lessons as you would at school. Many people choose to learn those lessons traveling the world or going into business. Some people just need further maturing before going out and doing things like that responsibly.
Yes you are right. But some don’t need to go to school they have just been told all their life that, that is what they are supposed to so. I am in no way saying you shouldn’t go to college. If you can go to school do it is isn’t a waste of your time it will only help you in the end. But it isn’t for everyone.
I am sorry, I do have to disagree here. My father had 3 degrees, and his chosen path did not involve using any of them, but he had knowledge. I believe the cliche that knowledge is power. I know you do not use everything you learn in school, but it is a necessity. By learning to learn, you will soak up more information just by forcing yourself to do well in classes that you see no point in.

the main reason for me would be that school is a great place to meet business partners and future costumers
A very nice story of how 3 girls with a zeal to study further negotiated and got a school to upgrade.

I think this is an important point. We drum it into our kids that they have to go to school, study hard, go to university, study hard, get a great job, work long hours. We fail to tell them to do what they love even if it involves leaving school at 16.

Your right about that. It is important to back up our kids and push them to strive for what they love. Not everyone needs school to be successful, but it doesn’t hurt to have it either.
So, Now I will also pay attention towardsstudy
I loved it.Absolutely right that you don’t need an MBA to start a business. 😀
Our goal is to create more entrepreneurs, and it’s not clear that is happening. Consider the following related graph of outplacement agency data.

Great post. Now, I must concentrate on my studies.
I agree, I graduated from college with my BA in English. Even though I created my own start-up, the lessons I learned from college gave me the discipline and knowledge to really stick it through the rough times.

Hi there an entrepreneur here and I agree with everything you said here. I strongly recommend school to everyone,, the only thing that maybe a lot of entrepreneurs like me that hate about school is that schools never teach students how to manage their finances.

these are all valid reasons but it isn’t impossible to do with out. While that is not what I am suggesting I just believe some people have to make and find there own way no matter how easy or difficult the path may be.
I have this to not be true and even in a few different areas. While working for an attorney, she said law school was worthless and to study the state code. The only thing it taught her was to write and she taught me that. I almost went for the bar and took classes to prep for it after studying state code. I did very well, but went another direction.
I still can not truly agree with this
I wish you would post some more great articles
I agree 100%! I wish someone had told me this before, I run my own business for about a year now and currently still going to school. There are a lot of things we all still need to learn and going to school might teach you that one thing you need to be a successful entrepreneur. I highly recommend not to skip out on it.
could not have said it better myself
Even entrepreneurs need a little bit of higher education to succeed in their future!
Every entrepreneur need some higher education to succeed in their future!
Your right about that. its fully important to back up our kids and push them to strive for what they love. Not everyone needs school to be acomplished, but it doesn’t hurt to have it either.
An MBA is not required in order to be an entrepreneur, basic knowledge and honing your observing skills is. As an entrepreneur you should be able to determine which product best suits your customers and which ones they don’t. Analyzing why this service is much preferred while the other is not. These skills are developed in school thus, making it important in becoming a successful businessman.
Great article your writing is inspirational.
I think it all depends on what you want to do, college isn’t necessary for everyone, but it is for most.
frankly, I don’t think there is any should or shouldn’t, it’s a case by case basis.
Although good in theory, I would recommend every attend school not just entrepenuers.
While I understand your position, school it isn’t always necessary, but it does help.
My university actually had an ‘entrepreneurship’ major!
I think formal schooling has it’s place it can be both a positive or a negative depending on the teachers. I see to many people indoctrinated but then maybe i would spell better.
Ya I agree your points. If we studied well means only our future will get bright.
While you ,make some great points I don’t agree with all of them.
school is certainly good for that foundational knowledge. but you will learn 10x more after school
While I do believe school is very important for success, I won’t necessarily say entrepreneurs must attend school. School is very important and increases your chances of success but no necessarily a prerequisite.
Your right about that. its exceedingly important to back up our young people and push them to strive for what they adore. Not everyone needs school to be successful, but it doesn’t hurt to have it either.
This is a very good post, particularly because I love to read lists because they are much more concise and to the point, but also because it really speaks about who an entrepreneur is at their core. If I had to pick one characteristic that I found to be the most profound and helpful, I would pick the last one without a doubt. I truly believe that in order to be successful, a person need to allow themself to fail, and be able to rise above the “failure,” because they are now just that much closer to success!
we are still waiting for the response from your side …the situation becoming very vast for the scenario here.
These are the main concept for the being an experience like the generous person .so that i thing this is the necessary step for the development .
Great points you have made here. Very interesting information. While I don’t necessarily agree with you on all points still it’s an interesting thought.
Well what I think is that education is important but I am not agree with all steps that you have shared here. For example, you can take the example of bill gate. He hasn’t graduate yet and see where is he standing.
I will immediately take hold of your rss as I can’t to find your email subscription link or e-newsletter service. Do you have any? Kindly let me realize in order that I may subscribe. Thanks.
I agree that attending school can really make a difference in your whole attitude. I would wholeheartedly recommend it for all new entrepreneurs.
