Xu Luping

Xu Luping, doctor of engineering, born in 1961, is a full professor (doctoral supervisor) in the School of Aerospace Science and Technology (SAST). Dr. Xu is the academic leader and the university outstanding teaching fellow. He is a committee of the teaching steering board of the computer basis (liberal art) under the Chinese ministry of education. He is also the committee of the steering board of communication theory and signal processing under China institute of communications, and a member of the expert group of the national major special project on navigation under the Chinese ministry of education. Dr. Xu is the director of the branch center of the Novel Satellite Navigation System attached to the Satellite Navigation Joint Research Center under the ministry of education. He is an expertise in the professional group of the overall satellite navigation system in China Academy of Space Technology (CAST), and the vice dean of the Shaanxi provincial engineering technological center of satellite navigation. Dr. Xu is responsible for planning, constructing and reforming a provincial featured specialty and the discipline of detection, guidance, and control technologies. He gives talks on frontier research and teaches undergraduate and graduate courses related to digital image processing, digital signal processing, as well as microcomputer hardware and software engineering. Prof. Xu has actively participated in education reform and research of teaching methodology. He has taken charge of many projects of education reform. He also published 4 textbooks and over 100 research papers. Over 50 of these papers are indexed by SCI/EI. He is the course director of two Shaanxi provincial high quality courses “Digital Image Processing” and “Microcomputer Principles and Its Applications”. Dr. Xu Luping is granted multiple prizes for his outstanding teaching achievements, e.g., 2 Shaanxi provincial teaching awards and 1 university teaching award. His research areas includes, but not limited to, novel technologies on navigation technology and its applications, target detecting and tracking, as well as signal detection and information processing. He has hosted and accomplished many research projects such as the national 863 project, national science natural foundation, pre-research project of ministry of defense, foundation of ministry of defense, and engineering applications. By doing these projects, Dr. Xu has got abundant experiences in both the theory and engineering practices. Currently Dr. Xu hosts the national natural science foundation, pre-research project of ministry of defense, foundation of ministry of defense, and national aerospace innovation foundation. He also hosts many engineering application projects related to aeronautics, astronautics and electronics. Backed by his research group, the project “X-ray Pulsar-based Technologies and Its Applications on the Autonomous Navigation Positioning” is honored by the second class prize of Shaanxi Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award in 2013.
